I am Jodavid Ferreira, I’m Professor in the Department of Statistics at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). I have a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from UFPB, a Master’s and Ph.D. in Statistics from UFPE, and a Postdoctoral fellowship in the Decision Models and Health Graduate Program at UFPB.
I am an enthusiast of free and open-source software (FOSS) and always strive to stay updated on technological advancements and topics related to Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning and Machine Learning.
In my academic career, I have developed and continue to develop research in supervised learning (classification) and unsupervised learning (segmentation, clustering). My work spans various areas of statistics, including probability distributions, hypothesis testing, statistical inference, and information theory. These solutions have been applied to both tabular data and the processing of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) imagery.
I collaborated in two Brazilian startups, serving as the Technical Lead of the Data Science Team and the Artificial Intelligence area. When the focus was AI, I contributed to the development and implementation of Generative AI using LLMs such as GPT-4 and GEMINI, employing techniques like RAG and fine-tuning. When the focus was Data Science, I developed solutions across various business areas, including models for lead propensity for marketing teams, creating a platform with statistical metrics for persona creation, and recommending the best offer for a customer’s next purchase.
